Everything you need to know about Delco Remy product warranties and how to file a claim.

All genuine Delco Remy starters and alternators sold by New Indo Trading Company carry the manufacturer’s global warranty as defined by Phinia Technologies Inc. (formerly BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems, formerly Remy International Inc., USA). This warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service conditions. The warranty is provided by the manufacturer; New Indo Trading Company acts as the authorised channel for warranty claims in the Indian subcontinent.
New starters and alternators: Covered as per the policy of our principals as outlined at delcoremy.com/documents/oem-reman-warranty.aspx, which is twelve months from the date of sale as mentioned in the invoice of New Indo Trading Company. Child service parts are treated as mentioned by the principal in their warranty document.
Remanufactured units: Covered for 12 months from installation from purchase, as outlined by our principal at delcoremy.com/documents/oem-reman-warranty.aspx.
Service parts and components: Covered for 6 months from the date of purchase. Service parts include brushes, brush holders, solenoids, regulators, bearings, and other replacement components.
Extended warranty: Certain product lines may qualify for extended warranty programmes offered by Phinia Technologies Inc. Contact us for details on eligibility.
The warranty does not cover:
Damage caused by improper installation, misapplication, or use in applications not specified by the manufacturer. Damage from neglect, abuse, accident, or operation beyond rated specifications (voltage, amperage, duty cycle). Normal wear and tear, including brushes, bearings, and slip rings in units that have reached their expected service life. Products that have been modified, repaired by unauthorised personnel, or used with non-genuine parts. Damage caused by external factors such as water ingress, chemical exposure, electrical surges, or overheating from engine compartment conditions. Labour costs for removal, reinstallation, or diagnosis. Consequential or incidental damages including vehicle downtime, towing, rental, or loss of revenue.
Warranty claims can be processed through two channels:
Option A — Through New Indo Trading Company:
Contact us at sales@newindo.com or through our contact page with the following information: your invoice number or quotation reference, the product part number and serial number, date of installation and equipment details (make, model, application), a description of the failure with photographs showing the defect, and the failed unit available for inspection or return.
We will review your claim, coordinate with Phinia Technologies Inc.’s warranty team, and advise you on the next steps within 5 working days.
Option B — Through the Warranty Portal:
New Indo Trading Company operates an online warranty portal for Delco Remy products. If you have an account on the portal or prefer to file directly, visit:
You will need the product part number, serial number, installation details, and failure description. Claims filed through the portal are processed directly by Phinia Technologies Inc.’s warranty department.
Upon approval of a warranty claim, the resolution will be one of the following at the manufacturer’s discretion:
Replacement: A new or remanufactured unit of the same or equivalent part number will be provided at no charge. Shipping of the replacement to the Buyer is covered.
Repair: The defective unit will be repaired to manufacturer specifications and returned to the Buyer at no charge.
Credit: In certain cases, a credit may be issued toward the purchase of a replacement unit.
The failed unit must be returned to New Indo Trading Company or to a location specified by Phinia Technologies Inc. for inspection. Return shipping for warranty claims processed through New Indo Trading Company is arranged and paid by us. Claims typically take 15–30 working days from receipt of the failed unit to resolution.
Retain your purchase invoice and any installation records — these are required for all warranty claims. Install products according to the manufacturer’s specifications and torque values. Use only genuine Delco Remy service parts for maintenance and repair. Ensure the electrical system (battery, cables, charging circuit) meets the specifications required by the starter or alternator. Warranty coverage is non-transferable unless the product is sold as part of the equipment in which it was originally installed.
Genuine Delco Remy products purchased from New Indo Trading Company come with the manufacturer’s packaging, labels, and documentation. Each unit has a part number and serial number that can be verified through the Delco Remy website or by contacting us. If you purchased from another source and are unsure about authenticity, contact us with the part and serial numbers for verification.
Do not disassemble or attempt to repair the unit, as this may void the warranty. Document the failure with photographs and note the date of failure, the equipment it was installed on, and the symptoms. Then contact us at sales@newindo.com with your invoice number and the details above. We will guide you through the claim process.
No. The manufacturer’s warranty covers the cost of the replacement or repaired unit and shipping. Labour costs for removing the failed unit and installing the replacement are the responsibility of the Buyer.
If you purchased from New Indo Trading Company, we can look up your purchase using the product serial number or your company details. Contact us and we will assist in locating your transaction record. For products purchased from other authorised dealers, you will need to contact the original seller or file directly through the Delco Remy warranty portal.
Products that fail after the warranty period are not covered under warranty. However, we can offer remanufactured replacement units or genuine service parts for repair at competitive prices. Contact us for a quotation.
Yes, the warranty is valid regardless of who installs the product, provided the installation was performed correctly according to manufacturer specifications. Damage caused by improper installation is not covered.
